First off I want to welcome everyone to the DEBUT issue of DIGITALMUZE Magazine!! We are all very excited to play host to independent artists, writers, publishers, attorneys, promoters, and music fans from all over the world! The new magazine format will be more informative and will feature industry related articles in hopes of providing you with more insight into the inner workings of a very tough industry! All of us here at DIGITALMUZE are working hard to expand the horizons of independent music. The music scene, as a whole, is changing as fast as the weather here in Tennessee and it is our goal to keep you abreast up to date with the changes that are occurring. As I speak, there are meetings going on from Music Row all the way to Congress, that will greatly affect you, your music, and your career! The “powers that be” are very concerned at the mere strength and viability of independent music which, heretofore, has NOT been governed in the same manner as conventional music, ii.e.: Music Row. It amazes me that we all have strict guidelines, rules, and regulations that we all must follow in securing mechanical rights, registering material with BMI, ASCAP, or SESAC, etc, and yet… there are so few avenues or recourse to monitor and demand payment for iInternet airplay!!!! It is becoming very apparent that the three major licensing agencies are tightening the screws on iInternet radio stations, by requiring absorbentexorbitant licensing fees, accurate play lists, and a host of other legalities to force more control over iInternet airplay. The truly sad thing is, most of these iInternet stations are poorly funded, under staffed, and unable to fight “the powers that be”. So what do we do??? First off we must all stay true to our beliefs. Independent music WILL be the wave of the future, and we are all on the tip of a very large iceburg. There are so many definitions and boundaries yet to be established, and we are currently playing a game where the rules are yet to be defined. DIGITALMUZE will bring you the latest news each issue to assist you and educate you regarding new laws and legalities that will govern our industry. Additionally, we will be bringing a host of very knowledgeable feature writers who will give you a wealth of insight in areas of importance regarding your career. Our 3rd issue is here and I can’t tell you how proud we are of the fantastic industry writers that take time from their schedules to write our feature articles! The insight and knowledge shared by these individuals can be a great benefit when taken to heart and utilized properly. I encourage each aspiring artist or writer to study the articles and put the ideas shared here to good use when developing your career!

We are honored to have talented artists gracing the pages of MuseRevolution magazine. All the artists featured in this issue were present at functions hosted by Laughing Penguin Publicity, George Jones University, and MuseRevolution Magazine during the 2008 CMA Music Fest.
Now some EXCITING news. MuseRevolution will conduct a contest for the MuseRevolution Magazine cover artist for each issue. Any artist can apply by registering on the muserevolution.com website (Vote For the Cover). Artists are encouraged to have their friends and fans to vote daily!
Next, MuseRevolution will conduct a legitimate SONGWRITING contest every 90 days! Rules and guidelines are posted on the muserevolution.com website.
Finally, the TOP NEWS! MuseRevolution will conduct a yearly contest to find the MuseRevolution “Artist of the Year!” The winner will be granted a professionally produced 10 song recording session, valued at $20,000.00! The session will be produced here in Nashville and will feature some of the industry’s TOP “A” list session players. This is a MUST ENTER contest for all unsigned artists! There will be three entry categories. Top Male, Top Female, and Top Group or Duo. A winner will be determined in each category and then the three finalists will participate in a “run off” vote to determine the utlimate winner - the MuseRevolution Artist of the Year! Again, rules and guidelines are posted on the muserevolution.com website.
